Gorilla Highlands Coffee
Gorilla Highlands Coffee(GHC) was founded and driven by Ugandans who reside and work in the Kigezi region in South Western Uganda in 2019 first as a farmer association in 2017 with over 1750 farmers in Kanungu, Rukungiri and Kisoro. The company activities were driving to
build the Arabica and Highlands Robusta Coffees, cupping at 85.4, grown at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,500 meters from farm to cup. The aim to have Kisoro as a coffee in cubation hub that links farms along specialty coffee to tourist who serve as a niche client while developing
the up take of roasted coffee as well as exporting over 100000 Kgs of Specialty coffee to the global market annually: GHC is not only about exquisite coffee, but growing to sustain and develop communities. With the privilege of being in the world’s best location to encounter the majestic and critically endangered Mountain Gorilla, it means that previously, poaching and habitat destruction, both driven by poverty, must be curtailed by coffee growing, with support to farmers who would otherwise cause their extinction. We are fully committed to achieving as many of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that we can, in a profitable and purposeful way.
