GHC Presents : Kawacare health project
Kawacare health project
Our Kawacare health project was launched in early 2020 to help address the growing concerns of hypertension, diabetes, and maternal health in coffee-producing communities. We are proud to participate in this project in close collaboration with Kisiizi Hospital, which recently extended its strategic plan through 2019. Our efforts are supported jointly with neighboring communities in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.Project Goals
-
The goals of this project include:
- Preventing hypertension, diabetes, and maternal health complications
- Improving maternal outcomes and delivery practices
- Reducing mortality rates among children under 5 years old
Improving the quality of life of coffee communities
The purpose of our project is to provide access to Public Healthcare services and resources to patients who need additional care. Maternal health is critical to the well-being of a community because mothers play an important role in raising their children and providing for their families. GHC has been working with hospitals since its inception in 2016 to sustainably improve the quality of life of coffee communities. To date, we have contributed 5 million Ugandan shillings ($1400) to these efforts, which have directly impacted the well-being of more than 1000 villagers through health services and water source improvements. Without proper care, mothers are at risk of developing maternal health issues that can lead to serious health problems later in life. Maternal health is also critical for infant and child survival. The purpose of our project is to provide free prenatal care to pregnant women who don’t have access to medical facilities or who are unable to afford private healthcare services. Our Kawacare health project will provide access to antenatal care services (including general checkups during pregnancy), postnatal care services (including breastfeeding support), family planning counseling, family planning supplies (including birth control pills), HIV/AIDS testing for women who need it. We provide access to malaria treatment for pregnant women who test positive for malaria parasites but have no other symptoms yet other than fever or chills. We also provide access to general health education, including information about how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS and other STDs.All Categories
